The Jive

About the dance:

The Jive was brought to Europe by American G.I.'s during WW2. The dance should be full of lots of bright, lively, and fast movements. It is a non-progressive dance, which means that it doesn't move around the floor as much as other dances, but the spins and kicks certainly make it energetic!

The Jive is in 4/4 time – and we have to fit 5 steps to one and a half bars of music. The fourth beat has a dotted rhythm, which gives the Jive its lively and playful style.
